You May Have a Will and Not Know It

A will is a personal written document directing the dispersion of a person’s assets after death.  If you die without a will, Maryland law will determine how your assets will be distributed. In other words, Maryland has a “will” for you—the State’s will for your assets. These laws are absolute, barring your beneficiaries from challenging the State’s decision. Conversely, a properly prepared will give you control over the process – allowing you to allocate your assets as you see fit. Consulting with an attorney regarding your estate can drastically reduce family conflicts, save money and protect your family’s legacy.
